Why People Buy – Envy
A Short Clip From The EmailLoyalty Full Course
If we dig a little deeper in to this, there are a couple of ways to make people want the things we have to sell.
Firstly there’s passion. If you’re selling to a passionate market and you understand them deeply.
You could write all day about the reasons why your new shiny object would be a great idea for them to buy.
Then there’s the 7 sins. Bear with me on this and you’ll see what I mean. If you can write content using the frameworks I give you and incorporate some of the 7 sins, you’ll be able to “create” the want within someone and make them buy.
The aim with the next section is to make them feel the need to satisfy their wants. So let’s take a look at some of these.
First we have
Envy = a desire to have an item or experience that someone else possesses.
Can your content make people envious of your other customers?
Let’s say you sell Golf clubs.
Could you hypothetically write about their arch nemesis on the green who owns those 8 thousand dollar clubs?
Can you encourage the envy, making it stronger with your pitch and then give them an opportunity or a reason to buy your clubs?
